Which cue is best?
Do not waste your time worrying whether one type of cue is ‘better’ than another because all cues benefit from the same attention to detail, finishing, and level of quality that is synonomous with the name Mike Wooldridge – recognised the world over as a benchmark for others to try and match.
My standard cue range is small, consisting of just two cues – Legend and Vintage. Two classic designs suitable for all players, from amateur novices to the very best professionals.
These are the best cues on the market, ready to be customised to any size you want, making them the quickest route to your very own made to measure cue.
However, if you are looking for something different, you are welcome to design a custom cue via my Virtual Cue Maker (see here).
But, whether you choose a standard or VCM cue, rest assured you will be getting the BEST quality playing cue regardless.

Why Buy?
Hand made and hand finished to the highest possible standards. Unbeatable in terms of quality and playability.
Varying in colour from golden to deep red, this rarest of all Burr Woods is beautifully figured and needs no additional veneers to highlight or make it look better. Random grain pattern and colour makes every cue subtly different to the next, and therefore, unique to you.
The irregular grain structure makes this beautiful wood very hard to work with and it is notoriously unstable, susceptible to splits, and easily damaged during shaping. However, I have developed a new procedure during production which helps seal and ‘harden’ the wood from the inside out, making it more durable, stable, and produces superior finishing results.

What is Virtual Cue Maker (VCM)?

VCM custom cues are made to customers unique designs and specifications. Made to the highest possible standards, they are the best hand made cue money can buy.
Shafts will be specially selected for their most appealing visual nature, but it is important to understand that they are not ‘better’ than Legend or other standard cues. They are all made to the same unbeatable levels of quality.
Virtual Cue Maker simply gives control to the customer and affords the opportunity to create your own unique design and, if absolutely necessary, request a specific shaft grain pattern.
But rest assured that all VCM cues will come with a shaft personally selected by myself, so unless you really insist on a specific number of arrows or extra straight lines, then leave it to me and I’m sure you will be happy.
Finally, remember this privilege comes at a premium price, so if you don’t need a fancy design or special shaft look, then stick with a standard cue. For more information, see Shafts
Hint
All cues are made to the same standards so unless you want a specific design, and have a lot of money to spend, choose any cue that is currently available in the shop.
Remember, the craftsmanship is the same, the playing qualities are the same, they can be customised to most sizes, and they can be ready much quicker.
But if you’re going to start asking me for ‘6-7 arrows’, or ‘clear maple with no little brown marks’, then you’re going to have to place an order via VCM and pay a premium price to cover the time and effort needed to find exactly what you are looking for.

The Best Of The Best!
Let’s be clear about one thing – My cues are the best available.
If you don’t like me saying that – Tough. They are.
However, over recent years I have been tied up with standard models like Legend and custom designs made via Virtual Cue Maker.
That’s all very well and good, but the fact is, it all gets a bit boring you know…
Freedom!
So, I decided to launch my Exhibition Series, which will consist of unique cues designed and made by me, at my leisure, using exhibition grade butt timbers matched to the most perfect shafts I can find.
These cues will be, without doubt, the pinnacle of the cue making art.
They will be strictly limited and I will not be taking any orders. Instead, as and when I have finished a cue, I will list it in the shop or notify customers who have registered an interest.
I will not enter into any design discussions, nor time schedules. These will be my ‘babies’ and they will be ready when I am ready.
If I do not have a clear mind, I will not make any, so please leave me alone to do them at my own pace.
Authenticity
Each MW Exhibition Cue will come with a unique numbered nameplate and signed certificate guaranteeing authenticity and collectability.
All specifications and ownership details will be also stored securely for future reference.
Price
If you thought VCM cues were expensive, don’t even bother asking for a price, as each cue will be valued at a minimum £3k+ and there will be no fixed pricing based on actual design.
Instead, I will decide at the time how much I want. Whether anyone wants to pay for it or not, I could not care less. I do not need the money and I’m more than happy to keep my ‘babies’ for my own pleasure.
Consequently, with this attitude (lol), I do not expect to have customers queuing up, but I can guarantee these cues will the most beautiful examples ever made.
Sizes
I will make them exactly how I want them to be, or should I say how the wood feels like it wants to be.
But I’m not completely unreasonable and there will be room for some customisation after completion if necessary.

If you are a collector, seriously interested in adding something special to your collection, by all means feel free to contact me and register your interest when one becomes available.
But do not ask me when the next cue will be available, or for any details of what I am working on.
I’m doing this because I want to get back some personal gratification, so I respectfully request to be left alone to enjoy myself.

5) NOS
New Old Stock
What Is It?
35+ years of hoarding, hidden gems and sin bin bargains that have found themselves left in the workshop, some for many years, hence ‘New Old Stock’, or NOS for short.
Part made, part finished, or even virtually ready to go, but for one reason or another were never finished or sold. Maybe a mistake on sizing for an order, or an experiment I never had time to finish.
Ranging from premium quality cues to ‘sin bin’ bargains that never made it through quality control, this section will contain anything and everything that needs to find a home.
Sin Bin
Occasionally, during final sizing/finishing, minor visual ‘flaws’ in a shaft may become apparent and the cue will be banished to a corner of the workshop pending later consideration.
When I find time to study these cues further, they either get passed or labelled ‘Sin Bin’ and sold cheaper.
The issue is often shaft grain that is visually flawed in some way, which makes no difference to the overall playing quality of the cue. It’s just a thing that some people care about and others do not. For a better understanding, see Key Features Shafts section.
IMPORTANT
As and when I find time, I will add any available N.O.S. or Sin Bin ti the shop, so keep an eye out there for any availability..
DO NOT email me asking for a list of what I have. I do not have time for that plus I do not even know myself. I will simply be working through it all and whatever gets completed, goes into the shop. If you like what you see, buy it. If you don’t, simply look again in a few weeks. But don’t go asking me to look for a certain type or you will make me angry. And we don’t want that now do we…🤬😂
