MOT – General Service
This is a gentle ‘check-up’ where new life is breathed into ‘tired’ cues, reviving them with a sympathetic all round general clean up.
Includes:
- General clean-up or light sanding where necessary
- Ferrule restoration – back to new condition
- Ferrule walls and shaft wood levelled where necessary
- MW SuperTip fitted for your immediate playing pleasure
- Tweaking of minor bends where present
- Finally, a coat or two of cue oil to nourish the wood
- Add the optional UltraShine treatment for the ultimate ‘better than new’ experience
No alterations are made, no repairs of dents etc., just a good old fashioned ‘once-over’, returning your cue tidy, refreshed, and like new.
UltraShine
This is a new extra stage of final finishing which you can add to any work you need doing. It is not necessary, but highly recommended.
Gives the cue butt a unique final finish with a high polish and natural feel.
Includes:

- Not available separately – Only as an addition to standard oil finish process.

Please note – Black F1 joints are very light, so are excellent for 1pc conversions as they make very little difference to weight and balance.
Also, replacing old brass joints with Black F1 can reduce weight by 1oz or more, so is perfect if you want to lose weight on a butt jointed cue that is too heavy (although the original weight will be maintained unless otherwise requested).
F1-X

Butt Taper

Returned in better than new condition and the UltraShine finish will make your jaw drop when you see it.
SOS – Help!
This takes over from the MOT service when serious work is needed, and is for cues that need a LOT of tender loving care. From minor damage or severe neglect through to completely broken wrecks.
Affectionately called the ‘make shit shine’ department – You name it, everything gets done.
Stripped, straightened, filled, repaired etc.. If it’s at all possible to fix, it gets done.
Includes:
- Repair any/all splits and breaks
- Reset/repair original joints and any damaged joint area
- Removal or filling of all dents/chips/scratches
- Slight or heavy bends* – includes hand planing them out if necessary
- Ferrule restoration – back to new condition
- Complimentary MOT service + MW SuperTip = Thank You Mike!
- Add the optional UltraShine treatment for the ultimate ‘better than new’ experience
* Severe bends may be impossible but will be as good as they can possibly get. Also, bent butts cannot be straightened without major removal of material. Serious thinning of the cue may solve the problem but will only be done with your consent.
Cue Lengthening – 4pt Hand Splice
Need another inch? Don’t we all…
- Extend your cue with traditional 4pt hand splicing method
- Will be done with a standard stock wood like Rosewood for a dark appearance or Maple for a light appearance
- No specific choice of wood nor customised patterns will be done
- This is strictly a service to get the cue to the length you want, it is not a cheap way to turn your crap cue into a glorious custom cue masterpiece

Replacement Shaft
Broke your shaft? Or maybe need your cue a bit longer? Save your lovely butt from going in the bin and get a nice shiny new shaft for it.
- Make a new shaft to fit an existing 3/4 type butt.
- Original butt and old shaft must be sent here to enable a new shaft to be matched up as close as possible.

I ordered one of Mike’s Legend Cues, around 3 to 4 years ago. Recently I decided to front the cost to send it from Australia to the UK, purely because I had faith in the craftsmanship of Mike, remembering how thr cue was originally brand new.
I requested a change from 18oz to 17oz, 9mm to 8.5, an MOT, Ultra Shine and Shaft taper.
I wanted to convert the cue i had, capable of snooker and english 8 ball, to purely english 8 ball. I loved, LOVED the shaft on my cue, and wanted to modify it to suit the specs i wanted for a pure 8 ball cue.
There are cheaper options to have this done locally, however i when i reveived the cue back, what i spent was invaluable. Essentially, you get what you pay for.
The ferrule was exactly what i asked, the weight and balance perfect, the taper perfect and the MOT and ultra shine made the the cue better than when i reveived it brand new. The finish on the cue is the best looking? But more importantly the best feel cue I’ve played with.
Mike’s potentially sold me on his own super tips too. (Fitted as standard with cue surgery)
Please consider all Mikes cue surgery options, as.i found it easy to constantly discuss the possibilities of the cue and trust Mike’s opinion.

Sent Mike a Parris Stirling cue that needed to have the flat on the butt spliced over, a new flat done, the butt tapered and a total refinish and had the thing back inside a week! Cue looks the dogs bollocks and surpasses its original finish. Stirling cue, more like Stirling service!

Cue come yesterday. All I can say is that it is in immaculate condition.
First I honestly thought you have send me a wrong cue, someone else’s new cue. I had to check it several times from tip to toe just to be sure it is mine.
Your could re-write your M.O.T. option like this: “send me your old cue and I’ll switch it to a similar new one”.
Ps. The micro-butt is a great addition to your set :)

Had my playing cue of 15 years plus given a new lease of life by Mike. Had the blackspin ferrule system fitted with a blackspin tip and a slight re-taper of the shaft. Cue has came back like a brand new cue and is playing better than ever. Not cheap but good value considering you get the MOT service and re-tapering included in the price. Very happy with the quality of the work and the quick service to get the cue back within a few days.

If there is one man in the cue making world you should go to, Mike Wooldridge is your man. I had a horribly snapped cue and with a bit of playing around Mike was able to repair it and to a finish I would consider greater than the original. I’d seen many cues but his attention to detail and how he was able to fix this are simply sensational.
Any repairs, refinishes or even just purchasing a cue, seriously seriously consider this guy.

Had some dents in my cue shaft and Mike had them taken out and the cue refinished with ultrashine, retipped and sent back to me in Ireland in about 5 days. Certain other cue manufacturers aren’t even capable of doing that in a month let alone 5 days.

Mike made my cue in 2006 and I have just had it revitalized through the cue surgery service. What a great job! Mike said it would come back like a new cue and it is just that. Not cheap….but quality never is. He fitted a new ferrule and the new supertip and it felt good right from the first hit, normally I have to mess around with the tip pretending I know what I’m doing before I feel confident with it. Overall I’m proper pleased with the outcome, a quick turnaround and the usual no-fuss, straight to the point service.

Sent my cue to be repaired and have the black spin ferrule and tip.
My cue came back dead straight, all dents removed (literally none remain). My cue is now so smooth and the ferrule and tip have been replaced with expert precision.
Can’t belive it’s the same cue.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for what you’ve done with my cue, I can’t even see the cracks that used to be there, any more. The new finish is amazingly smooth, and I’m really liking the Blackspin ferrule. To be honest, I was a bit of a non-believer, but I was curious and wanted to try it because I knew it was going to be something “different”. I got a few hours down the club with it yesterday afternoon and I did actually notice a better contact from the cue on average, and I particularly liked the firm, crisp sound you hear when striking, compared to a slightly metallic subtle thud from a cue with a brass ferrule. Probably not the best description of what it has to offer, but it’s a right pain in the arse trying to describe, sort of like trying to describe a piece of art to a blind person. The only way people will understand, is if they try it, and I am so happy that I did.

Mike Wooldridge…greatest cue maker on the planet…bar none!
I had been using the same cue for 19 years and it was an extension of my right arm…until recently when it was accidentally broken in 3 places…to say that I was gutted was an understatement. I could not believe that my cherished cue was no more. I was resigned to the fact that I’d have to replace it until Mike saw it and was convinced that he could fix it. I have to admit that I was dubious…
What resulted was simply unbelievable. He repaired the cue so well that even I struggle to see where it was broken from. I have had the joints (3/4 & base) replaced with the Black F1 and had the Blackspin ferrule fitted…the difference is immense. My cue now feels like a one piece and there is hardly any vibration in the shaft. The balance is fantastic and I’m getting far less unwanted side or ‘throw’. I have not had a single miscue since it has been repaired and my game has improved through better cue ball control.
The quality of workmanship is in my opinion, unparalleled. There are a handful of top cue makers in the UK who are worthy of the title. I place Mike Wooldridge as the undisputed no1 due to his level of innovation in driving cue manufacture forward and not just settling for traditional methods for tradition’s sake…and all at a very reasonable price to boot!
Mike is a complete gentleman and a pleasure to deal with. He treats his customer’s cue like his own and has a deep knowledge of his art.
In summary, if you’re looking for the best cue maker money can buy…look no further. This guy is a genious!

A cue is not beyond anything when you give it to Mike Wooldridge. I needed a join in the bottom of my cue for telescopic mini butt, the butt of my cue was in a right mess splits etc. Mike did a fantastic job on my cue a true expert. The repair must have been very hard to do as my butt diameter is very very small adding to this the flat on my cue very very deep how he achieved this task without altering any specs i dont know . A cue is not beyond repair, especially when you give it to Mike Wooldridge. When the butt of my cue had 4 splits from the joint i contemplated throwing it away, boy im glad i didnt. Mike did an absolute amazing job on my cue and you can always trust him to do whats best for your cue because he is definitely an expert. The repair has returned my cue back to an almost brand new state. If you ever need an opinion or a question answered about snooker cues then just ask Mike. Brilliant craftsman!!!

After 6 years of use my cue was starting to look a bit tatty and really needed a good refurb. After some research I decided to send my cue to Mike for a new Ferrule, New tip and major refinish..
What can I say? I received my cue back within a week via next day courier! The finish of the cue is excellent and is far better than when it was new. The fitment of the new Ferrule is fantastic and the feel of the cue after the Refurb is great.
